Listening is one of skill that has to be mastered by English learner. Listening is a skill that quite difficult for some students. So, as English teacher you have to familiarize the students with listening, you can train their listening skill in many ways, there are:

•      Conversation Audio

Audio conversation for listening must be clear and does not mix with other noise, a conversation involved 2 speakers or more, make sure the conversation is not too fast, if the material is for junior high school students, the speed level should not be too fast because it will make students bored and desperate to hear The conversation.

•     Popular Song

There are engaging English songs that we can use to teach English which can improve student’s listening skills. The popular song will make student interesting, as a good teacher we have to watch out the meaning of the song, whether the song has the moral message in it and what feedback the student can get and the lyrics should not contain something indecent. Examples of popular English songs that have a good moral message are: Heal the world from Michael Jackson, Who says from Selena Gomez, Life is wonderful from Jason Mraz and the other popular song.

•     Song for Supporting Instructional Material

Sometimes we need to find media that supports the material we teach, in order that student easy to understand the material. For example, we want to teach the material about “kinds of occupation/ profession”,  in the first activity the teacher can ask the students what profession that they gonna be in the future. The second activity is playing audio that contains about the various professions and their work. Then, the students guess what professions are mentioned characteristics by the speaker and make sure the audio is clear and support the material we teach. 

•     Short Story

 A story is one of the things that student like, the story no may not more than three minutes if the story too long, the long story audio automatically make students bored and the focus will be lost. If you didn’t get the audio, as a creative teacher you can re-record by yourself the story that appropriates for your student, it's much better. The last, give student interesting exercise to ensure they can listen the audio, you can make the True-False questions for exercise.
