Aceh Islamic Fashion Parade

On the 17th May 2017, it’s the first time for me attending the design contest event, this contest is one of part of AIFP (Aceh Islamic Fashion Parade) event. I’m very excited because it was my first experience to see youth designer’s Aceh in the event.

Aceh is famous with extraordinary natural beauty, starting from the oceans, mountains, forestry and also its flora and fauna. It’s utilized by young creative designers Aceh to design Islamic fashion based on Aceh theme and the result is so surprising, Aceh designers are able to blend Aceh's charm with the Islamic fashion they are designing.

At that time, there are ten contestants who participated the design contest four of them designed clothing with Aceh Ocean theme. As we know Aceh is synonymous with the blue sea and beautiful underwater enchantment. The first contestant designs long dress with shell "Verra" motif. The second contestant combine the enchantment of Aceh ocean with the uniqueness of Aceh women. The third,  designer designs clothes with pearl, coral, starfish motifs. It makes the dress look very amazing. The fourth, it’s also interesting, the designer carries a very unique design,  he sprinkled dragon scales motif on the clothes, it makes the clothes look very awesome.

In addition to Aceh ocean enchantment, Aceh designers also interested in the beauty of "Bungong Jeumpa" which the floral icon in Aceh. Combination smooth clothes with" Bungong Jeumpa" motif, it makes the dress look so elegant. Apparently,  there is the other type of "Bungong Jeumpa" there is “ Bungong Jeumpa Mirah”. The philosophy of "Bungong Jeumpa Mirah" means interesting, unique and brave as Acehnese women.

Besides, designers are also interested in the enchantment of forest Aceh, as we know Aceh’s forest is so green, lush and dense. There was one participant who was inspired by one of the typical trees from one of the areas in Aceh, namely Ketambe tree. The designer is very confident to mix and match the beautiful dress with the pattern of Ketambe tree. At the event, there were also participants who were inspired by the Rafflesia flowers which found in Gunung Leuser National Park.

After watching the event, as a youth generation of Aceh, I must be able to see the potential of God given to Aceh, I must be more creative to exploit the Aceh’s potential. So that, I can tell the world that Aceh is an extraordinary country and can compete with Other regions.
